Explain “chain” measurement.
One chain = 66 feet
80 chains = one mile
10 square chains = 1 acre
Give an example of calculating the area of a rectangle using chain
measurement.
“ A thinned
area is 4 chains by 7 chains or 28 square chains. Area equals 2.8
acres.
Discuss pacing as a means of quick and approximate
measurement.
